Waste treatment

Recycling and reuse of materials are the key goals of our business. BUHCK runs 5 sorting plants for construction and commercial waste.
 
One of those is the Bestsort GmbH in Hamburg. Bestsort – a joint venture with Karl Meyer AG – started operations in 2006 and uses the most advanced technology, for example NIR-scanners and automated control technique. Up to 120.000 tons of commercial waste and packaging waste can be treated there every year in order to sort out recyclables such as glass, plastics and metals.

Any residuals are re-processed to refuse-derived fuel (RDF) which is used e.g. for co-incineration in huge cement-works as a substitute for oil and gas. In this manner we help to save the environment and to preserve our planet's non-renewable resources.
